Default my bedroom

right ive decided i hate my bedroom..

its the colour... its kinda like a putty colour and the wallpaper on the chimney breast jsut matches the colour on the walls.
ive never decorated it just added more and more furniture and pictures ..i kept what was already here when i moved in..but it really depresses me!

so ive decided that its next on my hit list and now i cant stop thinking about it!!
( ive still got to do my living room/dining room but thats all in hand!!)

anyways ive thought that i might go for antique rose wallpaper in blue by cath just on my chimney breast. and then pale blue on the other walls with a picture rail and then white above the picture rail,

and then white bed linen.. i saw some lovely stuff in homebase yesterday

do you think this would look ok.. or would it look like a little girls bedroom.. i have got to think about my husband in this havnt i!!!

Personally, I would keep the same colour above the picture rail too and just paint the rail white, if that matches your other paintwork, the colour scheme sounds lovely and the white bed linen is timeless so will never date.

I am also in the process of "thinking" what to do with my bedroom, it faces north west so needs to be warm colours. My friend has just done a bedroom with green tones and green and cream striped ticking curtains. I love the ticking stripes.

I think it sounds a lovely scheme, though I agree that I'd paint the same colour above the picture rail. It wouldn't take too long, and would transform the room.
I've introduced a lot of CK inspired florals into our bedroom lately, and hubs seems happy though I guess some men are funny about florals. But it doesn't sound as if you're going mad. Go for it!

i have really high ceilings and i think if i took the blue right up to the ceiling it might look a bit cold if you know see what i mean...
my hubbys not really bothered what i do i think he just likes the quiet life so wouildnt really argue about anything to do with decor but i wouldnt want him to feel like he was in a little girls nursery!

If they are high, then the white would work well and the blue would over do it - I agree with that.

I honestly don't think it would look too girly girl - perhaps if the paper was everywhere, but not just as a feature.

I think your plan will work well CB, blue can be a bit cold, but the CK paper will compliment it and help it look warmer. I don't think it would be overly girly at all xxx

i spotted this before on marys thread about childrens bedrooms. i think it looks lovely and i think i could make it more grown up looking with accessories couldnt i.. and also the pale blue on the other walls..plus my big old bed with nice bed linen on

i just think it will look nice and fresh..without being to cold..now just have to wait for my sample from ck and also think what blue would look nice with it..
what type of curtains would you go for.. im thinking perhaps a blue or red ticking fabric would look nice with a plain white roman blind

You can get shades of blue that are "warm" and the blue on that wallpaper looks like duck egg, which is a warm blue. It looks lovely.

i have very similar in my bedroom and its a work in progress - pale 'warm' blue walls with white bedlinen and ck accessories.

I didnt realise till yesterday that CK no longer does my favourite print Antique or Classic Rose in blue so I've been looking for the perfect wallpaper but no luck yet.

Am stuck on the curtains though, spotted some white waffle ones in B & Q yesterday which match the bedlinen at the moment I have aubergine !!!! left overs from the last colour scheme lol. If i stand at the window bedroom looks great but if I stand at the door I just cringe.

will try to find the blue paint tin and post what colour it is - I did lots of testers because I didnt want a cold room. x
