How lovely, how quiet it looked, just like the ladybird book Tootles the taxi

Lovely footage and how nice to see the skyline minus building cranes and that hideous gherkin building

That was wonderful, most people in hats of course. I used to walk down that path to work some days, where the policeman was walking, our office overlooked the Houses of Parliament, the offices are now luxury apartments.

We have aquired an old cine film transferred to a DVD, it was taken by OHs friends dad when they were little boys and it shows our area in the 50s, it's marvellous and OH is on it wearing his sisters cast off shoes with an ankle strap and puffed sleeve sweater, he must be about 4

I love old films and photos

Just watched the film and loved it. One thing I noticed was that there weren't any really overweight people in the crowds and everyone always looked so smart and elegant. And how many men were there at Petticoat Lane!!

This might sound sexist but I would have expected to see more women, unless there was something there of particular interest to the men

I'd rather be at home cooking dinner than in that crowd, they probably weren't due to have their weekly baths until later that evening

*chortle*

My worst nightmare would have been me stuck in that crowd! Loved the old film - all the men in their caps and the funny old buses - it looked great. Thanks for sharing!
