Default Remember me?

Hi

I know it has been a while since i posted on here but i do still lurk about .

Well i have just been told that from the end of this week i probably wont have a job, the boss is filing for banrupcy! we have been told there is no money to pay our wages this month but ACAS have told us we should still come in as it may affect any money we do get!

I am on my own with dd and have a mortgage, bank loan , 2 credit cards etc, i have starting ringing people to say looks like i will be out of a job but they cant do anything until i am actually finished and by the end of the month bills will be starting to come out again and i am already into my overdraft i just dont know what to do and im sat here at work knowing im not getting a penny for it!!

There is something your debtors can do, (sorry to use such a horrible word) and that is take note that you have told them you won't be able to pay this month. Really push the point, especially with the mortgage company.
Try speaking to your MP too, there was supposed to have been something introduced to help people in this situation, some kind of mortgage break without penulties, see if it is in force.
If the company has a firm of liquidators take control, you might still get some pay, and the government should pay your redundancy, though that might take a while.

When you are told to sign on, make sure the JC take note of the date, as signing on by phone might not happen on the first day.

I really feel for you babe, it's really not nice at all xxxxxxxxx

Some good advice BM .... our BS allows payment holidays so it is worth checking and credit card companies will usually bend over backwards these days to help .... I read last weekend that even a payment of £1 a month is sufficient but you must keep talking to them Kelly .... our CC company told me that if you can't afford enough to cover the monthly interest they freeze the balance and no more interest is added ... check out the MSE forum too as there is lots of useful advice on there.

Also, credit cards, loans and the like, come at the bottom of the list to be paid, what is important is, the mortgage and council tax, without sounding dramatic, but to emphasise my point, you cannot be prosecuted for not paying credit cards and loans, but you can if you don't pay council tax. Go to CAB to confirm this though.
But as Lala and BM says, contact those to whom you are in debt and see how they can help.

Good luck

Thank you for your advice, have spent all day ringing people and am waiting for forms to come out for my mortgage protection to fill in but again i cant until i know when i am being finished. She has told me to cancel my mortgage direct debit as if they try to take the money out and it is not there then they will charge me £30! im just worred about doing this as if i go 3 months in arrears then they start repossession proceedings!!

I have to ring the credit card companies back tomorrow as their systems where down.

I am more mad than upset now as the boss didnt even have the decency to ring me today to let me know what was going on I had to hear it from a colleague!
