Default At the risk of upsetting someone......

Why when something is fashionable does everyone want it....I don't get it, if there is a wallpaper in fashion everyone wants it ....like leather sofas I used to adore the old well worn brown leather sofas and would have killed for one then leather became fashionable and kinda spoilt it for me with the glossy shiny stuff...same with fabric...clothes.....and I rememeber borders round the middle of the room 9 out of 10 homes had them just wondered why many people want their homes to look just like everybody elses

I think that is why I love the shabby chic style so much it is so much more individual and probably why I was a hippy

Agree with you totally. I have always been 'different'!I think it took OH quite a while to get used to my very definite taste

I've always prefered wall paper to painted walls, but our house needs so much doing atm, paint is the cheaper, quicker option.
I love vintage patterns too, but I wouldn't pay for CK, just on principle.
Found a lovely site a while back that had lovely paper at around 2/3 the price of CK, and lots to choose from too.
I like to be a bit more individual, hence ribbon borders rather than paper, but there again I was always a bit of a hippy

What do you mean ribbon borders? on the wall? any pictures? sound great!

Yes CK is a good point in question if there was a CK wall paper that was popular I would look for something along the same lines but I would definitely not buy the CK one , not because of the price, though probably couldn't afford it anyway but even if I could, as I would hate it if someone came into my home and could say

Wallpaper....CK,
settee...... LA etc etc etc

Still got them in my living room - they were here when I moved in 3 years ago

I can't keep up with all the latest trends - so I do my home as I like it! LOL

I don't like borders! LOL Hope I don't upset people who do but again it's choice - we would be boring if we all liked the same

My in laws house is full of different papers and borders. I keep sitting there daydreaming about how I'd decorate the place if it were mine

I ripped off all the borders when we moved in this house...and the one before...and the one before that too
As for the CK paper - I LOVE mine in the hallway!!!! Still makes me smile after 8 months
I got samples of the nearly CK paper and it felt cheap so I paid the extra. And trust me outside this forum most people wouldn't know CK or LA for that matter, if it jumped up and bit them on the @rse!!!!
Decent paper in B and Q is £20 a roll so whats another £3??? (well thats my theory anyhow lol!)
I think its all about taking what is popular and giving it your own twist. Same as clothes really. I buy something this season, ie skinny jeans, but I'll wear with a top that I've had 6+ years...
My house is finally beginning to look like the pics I cut out of house mags and scrapbooked 16 years ago!! And I've lived in 6 houses since then!! If my house is current then its only because I've waited so long lol!!

By the way - nothing offensive there Laj...but then what do I know lol!!!! xxx
