Default CK at Homesense/Tk Maxx quality

Has anyone else had problems with CK things they have bought when there was loads in TK Maxx and Homesense?

In Jan I bought some handtowels - they were cheaper than Ikea plain white ones, so I thought well fair enough, that's a decent enough deal. I also bought a duvet cover.

The handtowels haven't been used that much because I have loads from our wedding and they are obviously on rotation. So they each one have been washed perhaps 3times max since I bought them and the stitching is all coming undone and in one of them a whole side has come away. The poppers have all come off the bottom of the duvet cover after one wash - I've sewn buttons on now instead.

I should take them back - but I suppose it is nearly six months ago - doubt I have the recipt anymore and I can't get to the shop on my own because I don't drive.

I don't really have a lot of CK stuff, and most of what I do have is from TK Maxx or Homesense. So I was wondering is this the 'norm' for CK stuff or is the dud stuff being sold off to TK Maxx - hence the reduced price. Or have I just had a bad experience.

What do you think?

I wonder if the Homesense stuff is seconds? Mind you, I don't think CK quality is amazing anyway, especially for the price.

That is what I was wondering Liz, but I thought they had to tell you?
Well I have heard a few people saying that about CK stuff, so I'm not suprised by a long chalk, just imagined that a towel would last longer than 3 washes!

I think you should take them back, how did you pay? as long as you have proof of purchase it does NOT have to be a shop receipt, could be a cheque stub or credit card reciept. Goods have to last a decent length of time.
I would not hesitate, even without the reciept, it's worth a try.

While I am on the subject, did you know that things like TVs white goods and the like, have a 2 year guarantee? even though some shops just tell you one year and you can take goods back UP to 6 years for repair, they are expected to have a reasonable life. If the shop argues, quote the sale of goods act to them.

You would have to get the details and read your rights but it's worth knowing that you can't be fobbed off all the time. Especially if they blame the manufacturer, your contract is with the person you bought the goods from.

Oh yes I'd heard something like that about TVs etc Mayp, which is good to know as our fridge is on the blink.

I think I paid by cash, but I'll check my debit card statement and see if I can get The Husband to take me to Manchester at some point soon.

I don't think CK stuff is good quality to be honest, as much as I like some of it..others have said the same..except for the bags, I do think they are fab and well made.

I got two bathmats and they have washed really well (saying that I bet they drop to bits now for saying they are fine).
Sairer at Pretty Vintage and Shabby said her CK slippers fell to bits almost as soon as she put them on and I've heard off a few other people the goods are a bit poorly made - considering the prices you'd thenk they would be well made.

I went into TKMAXX the other day and bought a pair of diesel trainers and a pair of principles shoes, both I noticed had small flaws with them (incorrect leather grain and a small blue penmark), made me wonder about everything being end of lines or seconds.

Have heard a couple of peoplke say the purses are not great too!
