Default any ideas please

i have been contacted, and been sent some samples of waste organic thick cream cotton material, that basically is waste, and needs recycling.

its looks similar to calico, and is thick like a upholstery fabric

so before i start looking for a bulk buyer ( which basically i will be giving it away)

i just thought if there was any craft uses for it.

the lengths are apprx 73 inches long and only 2 inches wide. the width will prob vary from off-cut to offcut.

i am in the middle of cutting these into thinner stripes to see if can knit a quick shoping bag or something

but do you think i could sell these stripes on to crafters?

maybe by weight

Wonder if they'd be suitable for rug making?

Years ago I would help my Mum make rugs by hooking wool lengths through canvas - crafters might be able to use the calico in the same way? Just a guess ... more experienced people will be along....

Knitting with them sounds possible. If they are 100% they take to dye too - so whatever was knitted could be overdyed.

hahahaha love it....dodah strips

i think the knitting thing might not work as they are fraying

when i look at them, they would also make ideal tote bag straps/handles

or even edging,

Could you sew 2 strips together face to face...turn iso and use for weaving Tote bags iykwim and dye accordingly....If you had enough you could weave a throw.

Dye in an assortment of colours and the ladies will use for strip thingymebob...

When I had a big bag of tartan strips I turned the long sides over, ironed them and weaved a tartan rug. Had to top stitch them from moving about tho, also made some cushion covers. (Although if it's cream not practicle for a rug)
