Right I haven't even cut out my fabric and I am a little confuddled
![]() I am new to using patterns so please bear with me ![]() Now as you can see I have cut the front yoke for my DDs Burda pattern dress. I don't understand, as to me it looks like half the size of what I should actually be cutting out of the fabric. I am going through the instructions though thought I would quickly nip on here for advice and or any tips when using patterns. ![]() Many Thanks Mmmmm do I fold the fabric and then put the pattern on top . You do
so that when you have cut it out, you get the whole yoke assuming of course that the yoke is one whole piece. I can't read what it says on the pattern |

Did you check if the pattern has a seam allowance Mary? I know Burda never used to.
S'ok, I just had another look and I can see that it does *phew*

Ooo this is an exciting project you are embarking upon, Mary! Love the fabric. The instructions on the pattern should tell you step by step how to attach the bias. Patterns do look very complicated at first and can be quite daunting I find. Just try to follow each step in order. I often have to read the instructions several times before I see what they're getting at. I haven't made any clothing bits since my family were children and that's a long long time ago
. I'm excited to watch your progress, so keep posting as to how you're getting on x

Thanks ladies for the encouragement but don't know if i have taken a leap too far, need a zip too ![]() Well all the fabric has been cut now, but diydeb can't seem to find any instructions on actually sewing it all together, well actually there are three steps it looks like for the dress, could these be the instructions. ![]() Ohooo I need 30 steps not 3 He He would help to turn the Paper over, yes there are more steps 12 in total, Basting isn't that something you do to a chicken, phew I am off to bed night night X Last edited by MaryPoppins; 05-17-2009 at 11:58 PM.. |

I threw a pattern away today funnily enough, I was making a dress very similar to the one you are making and after cutting the pattern out, was told my my excellent seamstress neighbour that you are supposed to make little triangles at a certain point. I gave up I am afraid.
But will watch this with interest as you look like you know what you are doing ![]()
