4.5mm = 7
4mm = 8
3.5mm = 9
3.25 = 10
3mm = 11

Either side of these I get confused

I've got a few pairs of very small size (but long) needles, 12's or 13's I think. You could have those if you like Sandie.
In the past, if I've had needles too long, I've taken the ends off, sawn off a couple of inches, then pop the ends back on.

Also use an old long needle bent to make a stitch holder

Sorry, mine are all grey. Leftovers from when a cousin used to run a wool shop.
Just found a spare pair of 6.5mm (old size 2) long JV, if they are any good.

And it looks like a certain kitty named Martha has been at my needles. I now have lots with no ends on
Have a complete set of 14s though, if anyone can use them.
I will endeavour to find all the right ends for the others, that or I will have lots of stitch holders

Our local £land had some lovely sets of 3 pairs in different bright colours VV, might be worth a look.

i am so pleased that you can find a use for them - there are also some grey metal ones if anyone can use them

it has remided me that my mum has a HUGE bag of needles that came from various aunts and grandparents - i will go for a rummage and pick out the coloured ones to add the the ones i got today for those of you who fancy them - mum only uses short needles now, and we are trying to slowley clear out her house so she can move in with me - she will be delighted to think others will enjoy them

could you please PM your addresses and preferences for size (in old sizes please)/colour etc - i am so easily confused!

Just googled and found a wonderful conversion chart -

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/schiffw...needlesize.pdf

Mitmot - if there's any 5 - 7's and they are long or even normal sized, please let me know and also what you'd like for them.

As I said I've been learning to knit since Jan - making good progress - blanket on course to be finished by the summer!!

Still sorting mine, but if anyone doesn't mind homemade ends on them, then I have quite a few

just to let you all know i posted out 6 tubes of knitting needles yesterday - no room in them for a note from me but hope you will all realise who they are from!. they are a combination of the needles from the barn sale and my mums stash from my grandmother and great aunt. hope they arrive safe as some of the plastic ones are quite brittle and i broke some before they even got packaged
