Default Advice on shabbing these?

Hi
just 'won' these

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...:X:RTQ:GB:1123

to replace the ones the cat has destroyed. What sort of material can I use to cover the seats with ? Can I use ordinairy cotton ? But feel a bit worried it may be too thin. Was also thinking of a pale cream on the wood and the material a pale blue with either small spots or gingham.

just seen my typing of the title of this post - I have huge baby brain at the moment lol = I meant how can I shabby chic these ? xxx

They look very comfy, afraid I can't offer advice though, I'm scared to shabby anything in case I change my mind or make a mess

Ooh well done, that's a bargain!

I have recovered chairs and ideally you need upholstery fabric. You can use anything but it will stretch/wear thin easily if you use a thin polycotton. I have bought remnants from Dunelm mill for mine.

THEY'RE LOVELY!!! What a bargain!! I have painted one chair in cream eggshell, and that looks nice. There are loads of other people on here that would have more experience than me. As Annie says upholstery fabric is hard wearing. Dometimes you can get good remnants in Laura Ashley bargain boxes, but i would think Dunelm would be the cheapest.
Can't wait to see the shabbied!!

WOW bargain or what!!

You could look for some nice charity shop curtains to undo and re-make into covers.

I think a pale cream/white with some Globaltex curtain fabric would look fab. Gingham would look great, equally so would this

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Globaltex-Fabr...item1e57a56c96

Or polka dots, or anything really. They could look nice distressed too. I want some.

I painted my chairs with good old F&B Dimity eggshell.

I think they're a lovely shape, I can't wait to see what you do with them!
