I guess you could set the train up on a pulley system so that it packs away to the ceiling when you are using the room, they could all then do jobs for you to be rewarded with a little time with the track......

Boys and their flipping toys my friend's husband is spending a fortune on a layout for his trains from the back room on their garage out into the garden. When we first moved here exactly 24 years ago today (can't forget because it is DS2s birthday today and we moved on his 2nd birthday) the small bedroom was taken over by OH for his canaries till he kitted out the garage
