Default Handmade baby gift?

I would like to make a little gift for a newborn baby girl, ideally I would like it to be something with her name on, not too complicated to make - has anyone got any suggestions please? I quite like handsewing but am ok at (very) basic machining too

I am making bunting for my twin nephews for Christmas and a taggie for a friend who is pregnant. I will put a piece of plastic bag inside the taggie so it is noisy too.

I also used some bondaweb inside one of the fabric buckets for that noise, didn't mean too but actually is lovely for DS as it makes that lovely crinkly noise when squished

Oh I wish I had read this thread earlier thats a good idea or using some of the crinkly stuff MaryP used in her buckets - I have just made one this morning (on my blog) but found a website that I linked to in my blogpost that had taggies in different designs that was quite inspiring
I can see every new baby I find out about getting one of these

A portable changing mat. Put together 2 oblongs of fabric about baby size right side facing. Cut a bit of wadding the same size and lay that on the top. Sew together leaving a gap at one end to turn inside out. Turn inside out so that the wadding stays in between the two bits of fabric. Sew up the end and quilt in diagonals or squares. if you need to you can cut the corners round using a teaplate and bias bind the edges.

If you want to embroider I would do it on the fabric before sewing.

Good luck.
