Those chairs will have tons of life left in them too Mary, cos they will have had all sorts of abuse over the years, kids standing on them so they are the same height as parents, kids leaning back on them, heavy people leaning back in them etc, they knew how to make a chair back then, you have got a bit of a bargain with there being 6 of them. As to the colour, you are just going to paint them pink, so does it matter

Thanks for your help Ladies

Well dark or light I have to ring soon and can't bloomin decide, can anyone think of what may swing it for me. All I can think of the dark ones have a little more character, though the light ones may go with are furniture better.

If any of you have the Ideal Home Hen's house was in there is a lovely home in there that has six of them around their kitchen table, she has the dark ones and does look nice even with light coloured furniture.

Mary, the thing with those real solid wood chairs is, that they have character anyway and whatever colour you choose they will fit in. Why don't you ask if you can take one of each to try before you buy, especially if you know you are going to buy one set anyway. Assumimg you don't live too far away that is

LOL Mollymop Well he is being as daft as me and can't decide too, I think he prefers the light as goes better in the kitchen.

Right I HAVE to make a decision, I am leaning towards the light but I like the dark too

I think the dark will go just as well Mary, it will give the room a bit of definition IYSWIM. They are more characterful too. You probably cover your table with a pretty cloth, and I am guessing that your other furniture is painted anyway.

OOOOH, I dont' think we know what it needs to go WITH!!!

WE NEED TO SEE PICS SO WE CAN MAKE A DECISION
