Well I have decided to make a little stuffing ball my name for it, a little stuffing scented with the oil wrapped in some muslin and then popped in with the pearl barley.

LOL Maypole, I thought stinky smells too

Mary, you make me chuckle! You could get a sack from the asian section of ASDA, or an asian food store.

I here !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you want to get smells into weighted things, the easiet way is to make the weight smelly.
I put whatever I'm using (usually split peas, lentils, rice etc) in a tub and sprinkle on the oils, mix well with a plastic spoon (that I keep just for this job) put a lid on and give it a good shake. Leave it for around 1 hour and have a smell. It might need a bit more, so repeat the above.

It takes a couple of hours but it's worth it. I tend to make a batch, then leave it over night.

Hope this makes sense xxx

Thanks BM Brilliant idea, my balls in a couple seem to be nice and smelly, but I guess mixing it in would make it last longer

Fank you

Not sure about big items, but for smaller items I put a piece of calico scrap inside with the oil rubbed on it, but like TG I have been known to rub extra oil on the outside if the smell is too weak

How have you oil outsiders found the oil reacts with the fabric, I think I may have done the same but it left a little oil mark, you know like you get on clothes. Especially on lightweight fabrics

I have only rubbed it along the seam, for example my first batch of lavender pillows wasn't very strong, so I rubbed a little lavender oil (I have a roller ball one and a droplet one) and rolled some over the seams - incase it did leave a mark - but that was a heavier weight fabric and I'd guess something like Christmas spice could be sort of yellowy which would leave a mark on a white fabric.

P.S MaryP I have emailed you @ your mez email addy xxx
